Colour of Money Slots

The colour of money differs from country to country, but the feel of it in one’s hand never changes. Here’s another chance to experience that feeling, courtesy of Realistic Games. The UK software pioneer, responsible for such games as Double Bubble and Super Graphics Upside Down, have developed the Colour of Money slot to pay homage to the classic video slots of old. This one features a single pay-line and nostalgic arcade-esque music. Colour of Money also includes a bumper pay-packet prize of 300x your wager.

If you like addictive, easy-to-play slots, Colour of Money should be right up your alley. Released in early 2015, the game is available to play via desktop and mobile, having been created with HTML5 technology. While there are only three reels and a single pay-line, rich bonus features such as Win Streak and Super Spin keep things from getting stale. The return-to-player percentage is a pleasing 95.21%.

Old-School by Name, Old-School by Nature

The action in Colour of Money takes place on a vintage three-reel grid housed within an ornate bronze border. Above the reels, gold and silver dollar signs hint at the riches that lie in wait. The layout might seem simple and unsophisticated, but it’s very much a what-you-see-is-what-you-get vibe, one that’ll be familiar to players of beloved pub fruit machines.

The control panel is designed to resemble the plastic kind found on real-life fruit machines. There’s an Info tab in the lower left corner, up and down arrows to toggle your bet-per-line and three Nudge buttons along the central console (more on them later). On the right-hand side, meanwhile, there are buttons for the Autoplay function and also a humble Start control.

Because this is only a three-reel video slot, there are just five symbols in the game. It’s what you might expect, though – namely BARs, triple 7s and dollar signs. While three red 7s pays x30, three red BARs pays x5.

Like most three-reel slots, Colour of Money furnishes players with regular small win amounts, meaning a poor run of form is rarely severely punished. Lovers of low-risk slots will consequently be in their element.

A Nudge and a Wink

During gameplay, three ‘nudges’ may be supplied, at random, at the conclusion of any non-winning game. Simply press one of the flashing Nudge buttons on the central dash to nudge the reels forward, one icon at a time. In this way, you can manually adjust where the icons stand to form a winning combination.

During nudges, if you miss the best available winning combination, the slot's Auto Nudge Feature activates. It resets the reels to the position they were in before the nudges were offered, then automatically nudges them to the greatest available winning combo. This might beg the question, why should you even bother trying to find the best combo in the first place… but trust us, it’s not worth losing sleep over. The take-home point is that the slot’s got your back and everyone’s a winner!

It’s not just nudges players have to look forward to. The Super Spins feature is linked to nudges, in that it can be offered, at random, after a losing nudge. When it kicks in, all you need to do is press Start to spin the reels to a guaranteed win!

The Win Streak Feature

Colour of Money has more bonus features than most 3-reelers; hell, it has more features than some 5-reelers! The Win Streak one is a goodie. While there’s not a whole lot of science behind the slot feature of this particular game, it’s sure to put a smile on your face. The Win Streak feature is activated by landing combinations of dollar signs. You can either hit three gold signs, three silver signs or any mix of three. When awarded, all you need to do is continually press Start to spin win after win. All pay-outs are then totted up to form your total prize.

The Win Streaks are divided into Gold Series, Silver Series and Win Series (in that order, from best to worst). The maximum you can win is 300x your stake value.

It’s Raining Money

Like all three-reel slots, Colour of Money gets boring eventually. However, it takes quite a while to get there, thanks to a preponderance of bonus features and a solid RTP. It’s also cheap to play, with a decidedly old-school feel. Give it a go: you might just strike it lucky.
