Planet X Slots

Planet X. What is it? A planet – that much is blindingly obviously from the title – but more to the point, where precisely is it? OpenBet’s eponymous multi-line video slot does not waste time pondering such questions. The spacey 5-reel slot is more concerned with entertaining players with an attractive blend of quirky gameplay, fun symbols and amusing sound effects.

There are 20 unfixed paylines in Planet X, which happens to be a progressive slot. Yes, there are three bumper jackpots to aim for: the Mini, the Midi and the Maxi. If you want to claim a galactic win, you’ll have to be patient, persistent and, yes, pretty damn fortunate.

Getting Started

Planet X is extremely colourful, and should appeal to fans of aliens – the kind of conspiracy theorists who bang on about Area 51 and government cover-ups all their days. We jest, of course: in fact, everyone should love this game. The ticklish symbols could bring a glint to a glass eye. No stone has been left unturned in an effort to make Planet X appeal to a wide swathe of gamers.

Before you get started, you’ll need to determine your bet. You can wager a minimum of 0.2, or a maximum of 25, for each of the 20 lines. Of course, if you want to play on fewer lines, that’s OK too; you can play on a single line if you prefer. The dashboard contains an auto spin function, enabling you to play up to 25 automatic spins. Keep track of your finances by paying attention to the Stake and Total Paid tallies too.

Chaos and Aliens

Some will say it’s unlucky, but Planet X contains no fewer than 13 symbols. They include icons represented by the White House; a deranged man with five o’clock shadow; a screaming female; an alien spacecraft; a little green man; a screaming male; planet Earth; a pair of star-crossed lovers; a robot; a wild; and an FBI agent. In addition to the aforementioned icons, there’s also an Ace and a King.

Most of the symbols have just basic properties. You need to find them in combinations of three, four or five in order to win cash. As ever, the combinations must be formed on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel. The Mini, Midi and Maxi jackpots are won by hitting three, four or five planet Earth icons, and the progressive prizes are available in real play only. You can keep check on the jackpot figures by paying attention to the running tallies above the reels.

Among the regular symbols, the demented dude in the dungarees pays best: 50 for three, 100 for four and 250 for five. If you think these amounts are quite trifling, well, you’d be right: Planet X’s pay-table isn’t the most generous. It largely relies on luring players in with its trio of jackpots, which – as we all know – are exceptionally difficult to attain. There are also a few bonus icons, and a Gamble mode is available too.

FBI Free Spins

Simply land three or more Man in Black icons to activate one of two bonus games, one of which is free spins: The agent will appear on screen, announcing: ‘Forget everything you’ve seen. You just won a bunch of free spins… Here are the free spins!’ All the while, a spacey sort of dance track plays. In the ensuing free spins, multiple super wilds will appear ‘stuck’ to the reels, enhancing your chances of scoring a win. The symbols also animate in their squares. Depending on how many agents triggered the feature to begin with, you’ll win 15-60 free spins.

The other bonus game shows a farmer, agricultural goods and a spaceship; simply direct the spaceship to destroy the farmer’s items to reveal prizes. When the spaceship zaps the farmer, the bonus ends.

The wild icon, meanwhile, substitutes for others to help you form wins. It can’t replace the scatter or jackpot symbols though.

The additional bonus feature is triggered by the Robot. Land three or more and you’ll be asked to choose between the Metal Madness and Alien Square bonus features. The Alien Square feature is essentially an XO game, where you need to reveal three Os in a straight line. Metal Madness, meanwhile, shows a giant robot demolishing a city; you’ll achieve a prize for every successive object it flattens. If it crushes a nuke, your time will run out quicker. Damn clumsy robot!

The X Factor

Planet X is wildly entertaining, a video slot that’s both fun and frivolous. If you’re looking to get away from life on earth for a bit of time, then you could do worse than this game. OpenBet have made it fun and easy to lose yourself in. In fact, you could say it’s out of this world…
