Bingo Red

Fun fact: the modern game of bingo as we know it was invented in 1929, though its origins can be traced back to a game played in Italy around 1530. This basic lottery game was then improved upon in France during the eighteenth century, when tokens and the practice of calling out numbers was introduced. In 1778, French game Le Lotto was created, with 27 squares on a 3x9 grid, which can be thought of as the first proper version of bingo, even if it didn’t attain that name until Hugh J Ward copyrighted it in the 20th century and published a rulebook in 1933.

You don’t need to know any of this backstory to play Bingo Red, but possessing this knowledge gives you food for thought as you’re playing this online casino game. While you wait for your bingo balls to be drawn from the wheel, think how far the game has come over the centuries, whilst still retaining the elements that first made bingo so popular, back when it was still known as Le Lotto. Bingo Red is a very smart and very British looking version of bingo. It’s also a very red version, with an intro screen image that features coloured bingo balls with £ signs imprinted on them.

Paint It Red

Bingo Red uses HTML5, so it will work on mobile devices such as Android or iPhone. The game also loads fine in the Chrome browser on desktop, even if it doesn’t occupy the full screen, instead sitting off to the left. You can activate a Flash-based version though if you’d prefer. Bingo is a game that doesn’t require lengthy primers in order to master. For one thing it’s entirely luck-based and for another if you’ve played one bingo game you’ve played them all. There is one matter you’ll need to contemplate before you can get stuck into Bingo Red though: how do you want to play?

You’ve got three ways of marking off your card. You can choose to mark them off yourself, ticking off each number in turn after the ball has been drawn. You even get to use a digital version of a dabber, just like the sort you might use if you were playing in a bingo hall. To help you, the game will highlight the number you wish to tick off. The other way in which you could do this is by having the cards marked automatically. The game will highlight them and also tick them off and all you need to do is sit back and watch. Finally, you could choose instant reveal, which is by far the fastest option. You don’t even need to wait for the balls to be drawn – the whole process takes about three seconds to complete.

Three Chances to Win

When the game loads, you’ll find that you’re staring at three bingo cards which, performing some complicated maths, means you’ll have three chances to win. If you’ve elected for instant reveal, all three cards will be quickly ticked off and the amount you’ve won – if you’ve won anything – will be displayed over the bingo wheel. The playing method you’ve selected will remain in place for all subsequent games by default, unless you reload it and select otherwise.

If you’ve selected to score off the numbers manually, you’ll be prompted to choose your lucky colour, which can be blue, green, pink or purple. This is the colour that will be used to mark off your numbers and while it might seem a trivial matter, it’s nice to have the ability to customise your dabber, even if it doesn’t affect your chances of winning. Speaking of winning, there are some respectable sums to be won from this game – if you’ve elected to play for real money that is. You can play for fun if you like, but it’s way more fun when there’s real money riding on it. In fact, up to 100,000 coins can be won from this game, which isn’t bad going at all.

Bingo Red in Summary

Bingo Red is a very simple game, but then bingo games are never complicated. It does everything it sets out to do and there’s nothing more you can ask of it. If you were to be fussy, you could possibly take exception to the cheap sound effects which don’t add much to the game, but otherwise there’s nothing wrong there. In fact, with the potential to win a top prize of 100,000 for scoring full house on card three, you might just decide it’s worth putting some time in playing this online casino game.
