Magic Kingdom Slot

Fairytale-themed slot games are all the rage in casinos throughout the world, and games based on mythical lands, towering castles and all-powerful kings have proven especially popular. Keen not to miss a trick, Novomatic have released Magic Kingdom, a folkloric title that’s easy to play and easy to love.

Released at the tail-end of 2014, Magic Kingdom boasts 5 reels and up to 9 paylines, with the user free to choose the number of paylines he wants to put in play. Thus, the game should appeal to various gamers situated on the sliding scale of risk.

Smiling Kings and Golden Carriages

Some video slots are dark and gloomy, but Magic Kingdom does not fall into this category. Rather, the game is bright and cheery, with a regal red velvet across the bottom of the screen and the reels lit up in gaudy colours. The symbols include a good-natured crowned king, sporting a salt-and-pepper beard and bearing more than a passing resemblance to Paul Hollywood; an ornate coat-of-arms gilded in gold; a golden drinking cup, studded with red rubies; a many-turreted castle against a backdrop of blue sky; an elaborate royal carriage; and the usual playing card symbols, from 10 through to Ace.

Rules of the Kingdom

Playing Magic Kingdom is simple. Even if you’re a casino newbie and not completely sure how slots work, you’ll be able to roll up and get started right away. Like with virtually every video slot, the aim of the game is to hit matching symbols in winning combinations. First, though, a word on the stakes.

Users are free to set the number of coins in one credit: this can be 0, 1, 2 or 5. The level of bet, meanwhile, can be between 1 and 100 credits. The number of lines activated is up to you, but can be either 1, 3, 5, 7 or all 9. Once you’ve decided on your stake and pay-lines, just hit Automatic Start to get going.

The best-paying symbol in the game is the king. Hit three king symbols and you’ll be paid 100 credits; hit four and you’ll see your pay-out increase tenfold, to 1,000. If you manage to land five king symbols, the jackpot is 5,000. The king also acts as the wild symbol, and can be substituted for all symbols except the coat-of-arms scatter to make winning combinations.

Multipliers are par for the course with Novomatic games, so it’ll come as no surprise that all the slot’s pictograms are able to form prize sequences. The Q, J and 10 symbols, strung together in the medieval style, give multipliers of 2, 10 and 50, while the royal carriage is paid by the multipliers of 30, 100 and 350.

Bigger Wins

Some additional features are included in the game, offering the potential to win big. They include a free spins bonus, which is triggered when you land three or more coat-of-arms scatter symbols on the reels. Landing three or more scatters in their own right grants you 5, 50 and 500 credits, but you’ll also be given free spins into the bargain. Three scatters grants you eight free spins, while four grants you 12. If you’re lucky enough to hit five scatter symbols, you’ll be given 16 free spins.

Let’s face it, free spins are good fun because they’re free. But during free spins in this game, the wild symbols start to flood the reels, increasing the likelihood is big pay-outs.

Magic Kingdom also includes a gamble feature, which lets you roll the dice after each successful spin of the reels. All you must do is guess the colour of the card shown on the screen: red or black? Guess correctly and you’ll be awarded with a 2x multiplier, but guess wrong and you’ll lose the lot.

If you’re fortunate enough to guess right the first time around, you’ll be given a chance to stretch your luck and guess again. Another correct guess gives you a 5x multiplier.

Fit for a King?

There’s no denying that Magic Kingdom is a simple and unsophisticated game. Many slot aficionados will prefer titles with 25 or 250 pay-lines, but this Novomatic game doesn’t claim to offer the biggest jackpots. Magic Kingdom is targeted firmly at fans of medieval adventure, individuals who will get a kick out of the storybook theme. Where the gameplay is concerned, bonus features like free spins and a gamble function allow users to have fun whilst chasing sizeable pay-outs. While Magic Kingdom is unlikely to wow critics, it’s as fun as five-reelers can be. Check our our review of Faraon Casino if cash play tempts you with this magical game.
