Gold Of Machu Picchu Slot Machine

Although you seemingly can’t move five yards without bumping into a gap year student when visiting Machu Picchu in person these days, Microgaming have ensured that you can enjoy the wonders of the mountainous citadel from the comfort of your own home in their Incan video slot.

A 5 reel, 20 payline game, Gold Of Machu Picchu is a simple enough slot to pick up and play, but benefits from an incredibly generous free spins feature and one of the best-named bonuses we’ve ever seen. The slot has a regular jackpot of 5,000x your line bet which, when coupled with the maximum prize multiplier of 15x your win, can result in a massive top award of 75,000x your stake.

Going for Gold

As mentioned above, Gold Of Machu Picchu is a relatively simple game to play – and though the console itself features a number of different buttons, players only really need to concern themselves with the number of active paylines, their coin size and the total number of coins they wish to wager.

With all three of these options being fully customisable, the slot is available to play from anywhere between $0.01 and $150 per spin, but in order to take advantage of Gold Of Machu Picchu’s bonus features, you’ll probably want to play with the maximum number of paylines enabled at all times.

Whatever amount you choose to bet each spin, you’ll be competing for the aforementioned regular jackpot of 5,000x your line bet that is awarded whenever five Mountain Wild symbols appear on a valid payline, but there are also a host of smaller prizes to be won for any three-of-a-kind combo.

Peaks and Troughs

Given the breathtaking panoramas offered by the Peruvian site itself, you’d expect Gold Of Machu Picchu to be equally pleasing on the eye – but unfortunately the slot’s depiction of the ancient Incan civilisation leaves a lot to be desired with its drab colour palette and largely featureless landscape.

The symbols used on the reels are, however, largely on-point, with unique symbols including Incas, virgins, wild cats, armadillos and llamas adding an ancient Peruvian feel to proceedings. Though the standard Ace-through-Nine playing card symbols do sadly feature, these are thankfully replaced with a new set of unique icons during the free spins, with herbs, grain, cloth and pottery being added.

Gold Of Machu Picchu also features a special golden mask symbol that appears on reels 1, 3 and 5 to activate the game’s main feature. Entering this mode takes players to a new pick-and-click screen where they get to choose a prize multiplier and also changes the colour of the reels for extra variety.

Llama Drama

Remember when we said that Gold Of Machu Picchu features the best-named bonus we’ve ever encountered? Well allow us introduce you to Llama Deification – an add-on that is triggered whenever an Inca and a virgin appear next to each other on reels 4 and 5. This adds one free spin to a total in the top left-hand corner of the screen and also triggers a cool llama-worshiping animation.

This bonus can be activated an unlimited number of times until the free spins feature comes around, and when this happens players will receive a base seven free spins plus any additional games that they’ve accumulated. Players will then have to open a box to reveal a prize multiplier of anywhere between 5x and 15x their win, with this multiplier being active for the duration of their free spins.

During the free spins feature, all playing card symbols will be replaced with higher-value icons to further improve your winnings and the llama deification bonus will still be in effect, meaning players can continually add further games to their total. This not only enables them to remain in the feature for longer, but it also ensures that the winnings gathered during free spins are fairly substantial too.

Ancient wonder?

Despite its largely disappointing portrayal of the Lost City of the Incas, Gold Of Macchu Picchu is actually a fairly rewarding game with an incredibly generous bonus feature. In order to realise the game’s full prize potential, players will need to play with all 20 paylines active, but doing so will ensure they have a shot at winning an incredible jackpot of 75,000x their line bet during free spins.
