Megadeth Online Slot Machine Review

Megadeth are a thrash metal band from Los Angeles and seen as one of the big four bands in the thrash metal genre alongside Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer. The group has sold over 50 million albums worldwide. The slot includes the band members on the reels, with David Ellefson, Shawn Drover and Chris Broderick acting as standard symbols and Vic Rattlehead acting as the games wild symbol. I am guessing Vic Rattlehead is wild himself, but not being an expert on the group that is something of a wild guess (see what I did there?).

As you might imagine the slot is a dark looking one. The background to the slot is a concert setting with search lights pointing towards to the stage. The reels are set on a metal frame held in place by chains and the background to each symbol is either black or fiery. Alongside the band members are the guitars and drums used by the group as well as an amplifier and a guitar pick. This is a particularly striking slot and this is added to by the sound effects of the game, which as you might imagine are excellent, excerpts of songs played when gaining any win.

The game has two distinct features. The first is a free spins round where the wild symbol plays a prominent part. The second is a pick me round where you’ll choose prisoners, hoping to find the female ones.

Set up and Play for Megadeth Slot

The first thing you’ll notice when playing is that on each of the five reels there are four symbols on show, as opposed to the three found on the majority of slots. This slot has 40 win lines (this amount is set) but also has an additional ‘mega nudge’ option which will double the cost of the spin. This option will see the reels nudge either up or down to gain extra wins.

You’ll gain a win at this slot by landing consecutive symbols from left to right on a win line, each symbol paying out when landing three or more. The Megadeth logo is the top paying symbol, being worth 500x your coin amount if hitting 5 in a row, with David Ellefson (300x), Shawn Drover (200x) and Chris Broderick (150x) being next in line. The instruments, amp and guitar pick make up the rest of the symbols and these have the lowest pay-outs in the game.

The wild symbol (Vic Rattlehead) doesn’t gain any wins by itself, but does expand to fill an entire reel, making for extra wins at the slot.

The bonus features at the game are activated when landing the bonus scatter symbol on each of the first, third and final reel.

Megadeth Slot Features

Having activated the feature you’ll be taken to the Mega Wheel which will spin and take you to either the ‘Hangar 18’ free spins round or the ‘Head Crusher’ bonus round – you’ll also gain an instant win at this stage.

The Hangar 18 free spins feature sees you win a maximum amount of 15 free spins and during this round, should the wild symbol land at any time, it will stay in place throughout the feature. As you can imagine, by the end of the feature this could be very useful indeed, as you’ll gain many more wins.

The head crushers round sees you presented with a series of hooded prisoners and you’ll choose one at a time. Every time you find a female you’ll win a prize, every time you find a male the prize will be decreased.

Megadeth Slot – Conclusion

Normally, with a slot having such a distinct ‘theme’ you might find that players will either love the game or hate it. However I’m not sure this applies here, as even players who are not fans of the genre will find a lot to like about the slot (there is a mute button if you’re not a fan of the music). The four symbols on each reel and the added nudge feature give the slot an original feel and you can’t help but be impressed by the look and feel of the slot. This is only added to by the features of the game which once again are both original and look good too.

Fans of Megadeth will love it, but so will everybody else, so this is a job well done by Leander.
