Fans of reality TV shows will know that dancing is big business right now, with the success of both Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing with the Stars on either side of the Atlantic. Having become so successful on TV, dancing has taken a few quick steps into the world of casino gambling; now being the subject of this slot by Leander.
The look of this slot is a little strange. At first glance the lettering of the playing card symbols might lead you to think this was a ‘Western’ themed slot – the font looking exactly like what you might see in the credits of a film starring John Wayne or a young Clint Eastwood. However the other symbols in the game all refer to music or dance and include guitars, an accordion, red dancing shoes and a couple embraced in a tango. You wouldn’t say this is a visually stunning slot at all, the graphics are somewhat basic and not up to the standard of some of the better slots with cinematic or 3D looks – however there is some animation when symbols form part of a win line, which is a nice touch.
The game has one major feature, this being the free spins round which is activated by the accordion scatter symbol.
The Lucky Tango slot has five reels with three symbols showing on each. You can play a maximum of 20 win lines, although you can play just one or more (playing about with the win lines gives a cool sound effect, so you should try it!). All of the symbols pay out when landing 3 or more consecutively from left to right on a win line.
The wild symbol in the game is a red rose which will substitute for all other symbols except the scatters to form a win. This symbol also sees the highest pay-out in the game when landing 5 in a row, this being 5,000x the coin amount. The lamp post and the guitars pay out 500x when seeing 5 in a row, the red shoes and the hat 250x and the playing card symbols between 150x and 100x.
There is an info button which you can click on at any time. This will bring up the pay charts and will also show you the rules of the slot. Additionally if you hover over any symbol on the reels, you’ll also see the pay-out for the symbol. An auto play option gives you the ability to set the slot running for up to 25 spins.
This slot has a scatter symbol which pays out a cash prize as opposed to entering a feature. This is the accordion and pays 150x your total spin amount if landing on the slot 5 times, 50x if landing 4 times and 5x if landing 3 times anywhere on the reels.
Landing the bonus symbol, which is the couple doing the tango, 3 or more times across any of the reels will start the free spins round.
The number of spins you have in the feature is dependent on how many scatter symbols you land to achieve it. You’ll have 10 free spins if the scatter symbol lands 3 times, 20 free spins if it lands 4 times and the maximum 50 free spins if the scatter symbol appears on all 5 reels.
Each of the free spins gives an added bonus in that at the end wild roses will scatter over the slot, turning some of the symbols wild. This will obviously lead to extra wins in this round. These wild roses won’t affect the scatter and the bonus symbols. During this round it is possible to gain extra free spins.
It wouldn’t be unfair to say that this is one of the weaker games in the Leander range, a company who are generally known for more original and more striking games. This game is neither – the graphics are a little weak and the gameplay is no different to what you’ll find at hundreds of other slots.
Players who enjoy a very straightforward game where you can fit in a large number of free spins might enjoy this slot, especially if they also enjoy a game where you’ll achieve regular smaller wins as opposed to big wins you’ll have to wait all day for.
