Glutters Online Slot Machine Review

Imagine you’ve been transported to the world inhabited by the Teletubbies, only to find out that the Teletubbies have actually left and been replaced by 6 slightly strange bubbly characters who seem to like their food. Welcome to Glutters, the surreal but fun slot by Leander. The Glutters are all of different sizes but give them food and they’ll grow into the bigger versions.

This slot is set against the background of a countryside scene, with hills in the distance. These are no normal hills though, as they are topped with ice cream and have candy umbrellas sticking out of them. Graphically the game isn’t the best you’ll find online, but it’s a very good recreation of what you might find if watching an animated show on a children’s TV channel. The symbols on the reels are probably the weakest part of the visuals, the different sizes giving the slot a slightly uneven feel. The game is accompanied by a soundtrack which fits the theme of the slot perfectly, a very gentle slightly uplifting tune welcoming each win.

There is a fun bonus round to be found when playing Glutters which includes flying food as well as free spins – a slightly strange combination I’ll admit, but entirely fitting with this strange slot.

Set up and Play for Glutters

When you strip away the weirdness this is something of a basic 5 reel slot, this one featuring 20 win lines. The amount of win lines you play is optional – any number between 1 and 20. To gain a win you need to land three or more consecutive symbols on a win line from left to right starting with the leftmost reel. The larger the Glutter the bigger win you’ll receive with the big red Glutter paying out 500x your coin amount when landing 5 in a row. The Glutters grow successively smaller and this also reflects in the win amount for each symbol. As well as the six Glutters you’ll also find the playing card symbols from 10 to Ace here.

The slot has an auto play feature where you can set it to run for up to 100 spins, although you can also make use of the ‘Until Bonus’ auto play feature, which is a handy option.

The largest red Glutter is also the wild symbol in the game and will substitute for any other symbols (apart from the scatter symbol) to gain a win. During the game it is also possible to gain extra wilds, these awarded randomly in an interestingly little extra. You’ll see a cannon in the bottom right corner of the slot and this will fire either an apple, a cup cake or a burger at the slot, which add 1, 2 and 3 levels to any of the Glutters. This means that the smallest Glutter will suddenly become the fourth biggest if eating a burger for example. This could also mean that a Glutter could become the largest size red one and be promoted to a wild symbol. This can all lead to more wins.

The Glutter free spin bonus round is activated when landing the bonus (food basket) scatter symbol on reels 2, 3 and 4.

Glutter Free Games Feature

This feature starts on the hillside with 5 free spins and the five (non-wild) Glutters sit on the hillside, each with a different number of free spins. Select a Glutter and he’ll either be fired at with food or a bomb – if he grows to be the red Glutter you’ll earn extra free spins, if he explodes you won’t gain the additional free spins. During the free spins you’ll find that the randomly awarded cannon feature is more active, giving more wins than usual at this stage of play.

Glutters – Conclusion

This is certainly an interesting sot by Leander but there is one immediate question when playing -who is this slot actually aimed at? The game is very childlike and young children would love it, but for the fact that they are not actually allowed to play. It could be said that with the slot being so surreal there might be some adult fans, in the same way that Teletubbies enjoyed a certain cult status, but whether or not this applies here I’m not so sure – play it and see for yourself.

Aside from the strange theme, the slot is actually quite playable. Both the randomly awarded and the bonus features are good (if somewhat similar) and there is enough to keep you entertained for a while, if not for the long term.
