Wolf Quest Slot

One hopes that after a go on Wolf Quest, you won’t be howling about your losses! Wolf Quest is the name of a five-reel, 50 payline video slot operating on the reputable GameArt software platform. The real-money instant-play slot, which is available to play at a host of online casinos and on an array of devices, boasts excellent, cartoonised graphics, strong gameplay and both wild and scatter symbols.

There’s only one question: are you ready to embark on a quest for riches?

Questing for Wolves

The Wolf Quest reel grid comprises 20 symbols. Across five reels and four rows, we are able to look for matching combinations of symbols on adjacent reels, going from left to right. Since the 50 pay-lines are fixed, there are plenty of lines on which to land winning combinations.

At the outset, you’ll need to determine your total bet by selecting your bet-per-line multiplier. You can stake just 0.01 per two lines, resulting in a total bet of 0.25, or you can wager 0.50 per two lines, for a top bet of 12.50. As such, this is very much a game targeted at low rollers. The jackpot, meanwhile, is 250.

You’ll find all the controls ranged below the reels. Players can elect to turn on the Autoplay function, which enables 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 or 500 automatic spins.

The 5x4 reel grid, with each reel designed to resemble scrolls of parchment, appears in the foreground of an arctic wasteland, washed by the blue light of the moon. The dark setting certainly fits the theme well, while the symbols on the board contribute to the ominous overall mood.

Wolf Quest Audio

Sound effects in Wolf Quest are as standard. When we hit a win we will hear the ringing of a cash register, and during spins we’ll hear the sound of distant howling. There’s also a sort of tribal soundtrack featuring panpipes. A jaunty celebratory tune plays if you hit a ‘mega win’, and golden coins burst from the central Spin panel.

Base Play

In base play, you’re simply looking to find matching combinations of three, four or five symbols – although some icons grant a small pay-out for just two.

Icons include a trio of tribal shields, a severe-looking owl, a pair of wolves, an image of a wolf howling at the moon, a wolf paw symbol, an eagle and a bonfire raging on the plain.

The tribal shield is one of the few that grants pay-outs for two matching, although the sum is a mere one credit. For three it’s ten, for four it’s 37.50 and he who can uncover five symbols in a line wins 125.

Other well-paying symbols include the owl (100/25/5) and the eagle (125/37.50/10/1). By far the best, though, is the one showing two Arctic wolves. This pays 2.50 for two, ten for three, 50 for four and 250 for all five.

Wolf Paw Free Spins

Players are entitled to ten free spins when they unearth three wolf paw symbols on reels one, two and three simultaneously. Not only that, but they’ll win 50 credits. Not only that, but after every subsequent free spin, a moon wild symbol is added to reels two, three, four and five until the end of the feature! The bonus feature can be re-triggered during free spins only once, awarding an additional five free spins.

The moon wild, incidentally, substitutes for all symbols except scatters during regular play. It is not, however, linked with values in the pay-table.

Wanna gamble?

Some players are never satisfied with their win amount. If you’re such a player, I’m glad to report that Wolf Quest includes a gamble function, which gives you the chance to double your win.

To gamble any win, simply enable the Gamble mode at the start, then opt-in on a gamble after a line win. All you need to do is decide whether the face-down card on the table is red or black. The bet is doubled if your choice is correct, and your wad is forfeited if it’s incorrect. Winnings can be gambled up to five times before the feature terminates.

Worth the quest?

Wolf Quest certainly merits attention. The atmospheric wolf-themed game is both visually stunning and potentially rewarding, particularly when you factor in the added wilds during free spins. Could this be as successful online as IGT's Wolf Run was in land casinos?
