Penn & Teller Slot

Although Everi are one of the biggest technology providers in Las Vegas today, they perhaps aren’t as well-known as they would like for their actual slot machines despite some clever themes and rewarding gameplay on offer. For 2016 they seem determined to change that and are going head to head with companies such as IGT and WMS with a raft of official slot titles due to launch, with the biggest of these being the new Penn & Teller slot game.

G2E is the show to release your game at and have it either panned or praised by veterans of the slot gaming industry. At G2E 2016, Everi will launch a new slot game with a theme close to Vegas hearts, as the magician partnership are already eight times “Las Vegas Magicians of the Year” and their magic show at The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino is currently the longest running headliner show in Las Vegas, playing every night except Friday! There’s even a theatre in Vegas named after the magical showrunners and this is a game that Everi really have to get right if they want to honour the legend and make a splash with branded consumer games.

Theme and Features

There is no news yet on which cabinet Everi will use, going along with the illusionist theme it seems they want to keep it under wraps until the last possible moment. We would hope to see a generous amount of bespoke 3D visual work and some audio voiceovers, perhaps some Teller mimes also! We do know that both magicians will be there on the day of release and are also billed as playing at Everi’s charity slot tournament at G2E with the hope of winning cash for their favourite local charity.

I think its likely safe to say that the bonus rounds are going to be themed around some of the duo’s more famous tricks and might well contain secondary bonuses as well. The pay icons and backdrops should no doubt be based on the TV shows they have produced, what will be interesting is too see quite how risqué Everi allow the game to be given some of the pairs more controversial work and public opinions.

One thing that likely isn’t in doubt is that this is going to be a low variance slot aimed at the holidaymaker or casual slots player. Official branded games cost much more to develop than other games and as such tend to be very low limit, low roller friendly, looking to recoup their costs over the long term with entertaining but lower pay-out play.

Summary

Although the game will be debuting at G2E, we don’t have a launch date yet for the actual slot itself. It’s fairly common for manufacturers to have part finished slots at the show, allowing for game play or mechanics adjustment before release if consumer feedback isn’t great. We probably won’t be able to play the finished game much before Xmas at the earliest, in the meantime we await the preview with no small measure of anticipation!
