Cutie Fruits Slot

Fruit-themed slot games are nothing new, but the symbols in Cutie Fruits, the new 5-reel, 5-row video slot from Daub Gaming Ltd, are just too darn cute to resist. Cutie Fruits is a non-progressive slot, but one that is somewhat innovative thanks to the Tetris-like nature of the gameplay, whereby winning combinations vanish from the reels only to be replaced by others sliding in from above.

Without further ado, let’s break down this fruit-tastic fruit machine…

Betting Stakes

There is one coin size in Cutie Fruits – 0.01 – and the maximum bet is nine currency units. The game’s return-to-player average, meanwhile, sits somewhere between 94.4 and 95.1%.

Game Rules

Each spin of the reels sees five rows of goggle-eyed fruit fall into place on the 5x5 grid, which appears against an idyllic beach backdrop. When three or more fruit icons make a combination, they pop, with each pop awarding different pay-outs based on your bet. As stated, the fruit symbols above the ones that detonate will fall into the vacant spaces, allowing additional wins to occur if further matching combinations are made. Indeed, it’s possible to win a dozen consecutive pay-outs on a single spin!

You might be wondering what constitutes a winning combination. Well, a winning combo can be any three matching fruit symbols touching in a horizontal or vertical position. An L-shaped combination is also possible, just like in Tetris, and multiple combinations are possible.

Fruit symbols include lemons, oranges, blueberries, strawberries, pears, grapes and pink apples. The pink apple is the best on the pay-table, awarding 20. Next is the blueberry, at 15, followed by the strawberry, which pays 10. The lowest-paying icon is the grape.

By clicking on the gearwheel icon, you can determine the number of AutoPlay spins, which stretch from 10 to 100. You can also mute the music and/or audio and regulate your bet.

There’s Levels to this

Cutie Fruits is structured by levels. During play, gamers will score points, enabling them to ascend through the gradations of the game. Your level progress is measured on a meter aside the reel grid, and once this is filled, you will move on to the next level.

To make it to level 24, you’ll need to accumulate a massive 92,500 credits – so I wouldn’t think too much about it just yet! More realistic, in the short term, is the prospect of reaching levels two, three and four, which require credits of 1,000, 2,300 and 3,800.

In addition to moving through the levels by accumulating credits, you’ll earn points by forming letters or bonus patterns. The pattern you are attempting to clear by winning on all indicated positions is revealed on the left-hand side of the screen. Letter patterns include every letter of the alphabet, from A to Z, and earn 50 points.

More points will be won when you complete bonus patterns, helping you ascend to the next level. Different patterns are awarded at different levels, and points do not affect the pay-outs.

Power-Ups and Bonus Patterns

Power-ups – or special features – are triggered on specific levels, and you can play 24 levels over five game worlds. Power-up symbols randomly appear amongst other fruit, and can follow one after the other. A power-up pay-out is the grand sum of all the symbol pay-outs that ‘popped’ during the feature.

Power-up icons include the Party Pineapple, who likes to “shake things up.” In other words, the current fruits can be exchanged with other fruits to help you form wins. The Cocobomb causes fruit which surrounds it to explode, while Jonah Jellyfish “stings your way to bigger wins.” The Magic Mushroom, doesn’t get you high, but it does transform random fruits into new symbols.

There are six further power-up symbols including Wild Bird, The Keeper, Evil Eye, Freddy Fireball, Flob and The Watcher. If you get acquainted with the Flob and The Watcher, you’re doing well: they crop up on levels 21 and 24, respectively.

Gamble Feature

When available, click on the Gamble button for a chance to double your win. You may gamble your winnings until the gamble limit is reached, although it’s unclear what the limit is.

Tutti Frutti

Cutie Fruits is a game that’s a little bit different to its contemporaries. Not only is the grid bigger (5x5 instead of 5x3), but the number of winning competitions are increased thanks to the Tetris-like paylines. Give it a spin and make those fruit go pop!
