Pharoah Slots

Kneel before the greatest of all rulers of the greatest of all ancient civilizations!

OK, you can get up now – it’s only a game. Quite literally. Pharoah is a classic 5-reel slot game from Cozy Games, with a couple of twists. And they have nothing to do with the loom that the reels seem to be sitting on. Well, actually they do, but we’ll come to all that in due course.

In terms of first impressions, on the other hand, Pharoah might not shout the loudest, or the brightest, and it’s potentially going to get lost in a sea of other online slot machines themed on Ancient Egypt and the ways of the Pyramids. But you have to kind of admire that, whoever has made it obviously has confidence in their work. A quick inspection at the details will reveal why.

Spotted It?... How About Now?

Don’t worry, we’ll explain everything – but let’s just say this is one hell of a game once you get to know it, the sort of game that really does not suffer fools gladly, rewards the brave and punishes the naive. Introductions done, but hopefully not the wits scared out of you, let’s get on with the nitty gritty- honestly, prepare to have some serious fun.

A Land That Time Hasn’t Forgot

The Ancient Egyptians are amongst the most studied and coveted of all the ancient world civilizations, and for good reason. They were incredibly well organized, very clued up on the education front, and some believe they even had the ability to speak to aliens.

None of that really makes a difference on Pharoah the slot, but it’s nice to know where we all stand. So, we’re given a series of symbols on five reels. The idea is to match those symbols up in combinations of themselves – land three or more and you’ll get a payout... sort of.

You can only win if you land the like-symbols on an active pay line. Sadly, without activating the pay line you might watch as combinations land but are never rewarded, which is pretty painful to say the least. In terms of pictures, there’s a lot to go off- 9, 10, J, Q, A; then various Egyptian artifacts increasing in value up to the golden casket of a mummy’s tomb. No prizes for guessing that’s the one you really want to be landing.

Into the Catacombs

Before you hit Spin and throw away what chance you had of making like Indiana Jones and discovering loads of old relics, and then getting paid, it’s wise to learn the full rules to the game- so experienced gamers can definitely skip this bit.

So you want to match symbols on pay lines and get cash prizes- the bigger your Coin Size, or the overall size of your individual bet, the more cash prize you’ll be in line to get. Adjust this by hitting the - or + buttons.

You can also increase the number of pay lines you want to play- between 1 and 40. But here’s where it gets interesting; pay lines can only be increased in tens. That’s a huge difference between the amount it will cost to bet on 1, and the amount it would cost to bet on 10. Start going up to 20 and you’re talking big money.

King of Kings

The point being this really does want you to feel the full adrenaline – it’s almost as if Pharoah is saying that if you’re in you’re in, and if you’re unsure you should probably move on. Go big or go home, would be the phrase that comes to mind, if they said that in the Egyptian times which we’re pretty sure they didn’t. Whoever they are.

On top of the standard symbols you also have some extras to keep an eye out for. Scatter comes in a jeweled cross, and offers ten times the bet in winnings when you land two. The Wild is actually that mummy’s casket again, meaning this can also be used to substitute missing parts of other combinations, increasing the likelihood you’ll win.

Finally, the face of a woman in front of two pyramids is the bonus, land three of these and you’ll begin an add-on round that’s pretty fun to play.

Give and Get

There’s no messing about with this one. Pharoah asks a fair bit of you, and your credit, but it also offers a lot in return. The Wild symbols are a lot more useful on this than many others and it feels like you might just be winning more than your average play. Good news all round then, we really (really) like it.
