Big 7 Slot

For a retro slot gaming experience that includes all the buttons you’d find on a classic one-armed bandit, why not try out Cayetano’s easy-to-use 3 reel classic, Big 7?

Boasting an incredibly user-friendly interface that sees players wager a single chip in a variety of denominations across one central payline, Big 7 also includes handy hold and nudge features to help boost your chances of winning. The game’s titular “Big 7” symbol, meanwhile, is a three-positions-tall monster that can award a maximum regular jackpot of 50x your bet when it fills all 3 reels.

Simple Simon

As you’d fully expect from a classic slot machine, the beauty of Big 7 lies in its simplicity, with players not having to worry about things like active paylines and complicated bonus features. With just the central payline awarding prizes, players need only select the coin denomination they wish to wager on each spin, with a minimum stake of $1 and a max of $500 providing plenty of scope for betting.

For their investment, players will have a shot at winning a top prize of 50x their bet whenever three “Big 7” symbols fill the entire gameboard, while a 25x win is issued whenever any part of this icon is present across all three central spaces. Regular payouts of between 2x and 20x your stake are also awarded whenever a three-of-a-kind is hit, but no wild symbol is included to help in this respect.

Unlike most other classic slots, however, players in Big 7 will benefit from a hold feature that sees them able to lock reels in place for their next spin. Obviously best utilised when a “Big 7” symbol occupies an entire reel, this can significantly improve your odds of landing the slot’s max jackpot.

Rage against the Machine

Big 7 is designed to look like a classic bricks and mortar slot machine, but unfortunately if it was positioned in a real casino, it would probably be tucked away at the back somewhere gathering dust. Unlike other classic slots that feature neon borders or flashing lights, Big 7 is a dreary grey machine with white reels that certainly won’t be winning any prizes for its aesthetic qualities.

The symbols featured in the game are all classic slot staples, with cherries representing the lowest value icon and single, double and triple bars offering bigger prizes respectively. The “Big 7” icon that gives the game its title is a little different, however, given that it is three times the size of all other icons and bright red in colour, which at least goes someway to livening up the slot’s dull design.

Hold/nudge buttons underneath each reel help give the game an arcade feel, but the range of sound effects on offer do little to inspire, with only the standard beeps and whirs of a classic slot machine and some gentle background ambience offering anything in the way of audio stimulus throughout.

Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge

As outlined above, Big 7 is largely a featureless retro slot with no wild or scatter symbols to speak of. Where it does stand out from the crowd, however, is in the inclusion of hold and nudge buttons, which can at least help players take control of the slot and improve their chances of winning.

The hold feature is perhaps the most valuable addition to the game, with players able to lock a reel in place after each spin if they feel a big win is attainable. Obviously best used whenever a “Big 7” icon appears, this option can help give you a better shot at winning 50x or 25x your stake, but players should be aware that upping their bet amount between spins will override any holds.

The nudge feature, meanwhile, can save your bacon when a winning combination is agonisingly out of reach. Awarded at random during spins, players can be given up to three nudges that they can use on any reel to move the symbols up a row, potentially creating winning paylines and further prizes.

One for the Archives

As you can see, Cayetano’s Big 7 slot is a game that features little in the way of bells and whistles. If a retro gaming experience is what you’re after, the slot is worth a spin thanks to its hold and nudge features and the inclusion of the stacked “Big 7” symbol, but if you want something with a bit more graphical punch, we’d recommend you stick to Cayetano’s more modern video slot titles.
