Another sequel from BetSoft – and another game which fully deserves to be on any slot fan’s must-play list. In the follow up to the hugely successful Gold Diggers slot, this game features 2 redneck type gold miners and a cheeky gopher, and includes cascading wins and a free spins bonus game. The 3D graphics, from the opening sequence through to the main game, are stunning. You’ll have the rednecks ‘host’ the game for you, reacting to your wins (as well as to the gopher). With the potential for wins to get large multipliers, there is more to this game than just the graphics.
Visually, this slot takes you back to the days of the gold-rush, with mechanical carts and TNT – rather than modern excavation machinery. The miners stand either side of the reels and are constantly taunted by the gopher while you play. He drops things on their heads, bites them and appears huge right in front of the reels on occasion. The symbols on the reels are blocks of colour which mimic how you’d find certain gems and gold in the rocks. There are gemstones too, and TNT barrels and sticks.
There is only a single free spins game as a change from the main view. This has its own intro sequence involving the two characters boarding a mine cart and travelling to a different part of the mine. This is definitely worth seeing the first time – and you can skip it after that. There is also a ‘double up’ option after a win which is animated and worth seeing at least once – even if you do not normally choose to double after a win.
Behind the amazing graphics, this is a standard 5 reel slot, with 25 win-lines and 3 rows of symbols. The lines are fixed for this game, though you can adjust your coin size. The smallest spin is 50c and the largest $25. A configurable auto-play option can be used.
After you win, you can hit the ‘double up’ button, which sits between the spin and the ‘auto-play’ underneath the reels. This takes you to a break out screen with an animated blonde lady who deals cards. If you click deal, then she spreads out 5 cards on the table. The far card is hers, and your task is to choose a higher card from the 4 that remain. 2 will win and 2 will lose, and all are shown after you make your choice. The dealer manages to look genuinely sad when you do bust out.
The cascading wins add multipliers when they repeat. The first win is at the standard rate. When this explodes you will sometimes get a 2nd win, which is at 2x. You can go all the way to 5x per win on some occasions – these are all counted as the same spin.
5 diamonds is the biggest single prize. This is worth 2500 coins for 5 on a line, with 250 for 4. Next comes the gold coloured block at 1000 for 5, then the silver, black and brown ones at 500, 200 and 100 respectively. The ruby and green block make up the smaller wins.
Wilds are the 3 sticks of dynamite, this substitutes for all of the other symbols, and will explode with them on the reels. The remaining feature is the barrel with TNT written on it. This triggers the free spins game when you get 3.
It is worth watching the opening sequence for this game at least once. The end of the cart journey for the 2 redneck miners is a new set of reels (well, at least the background is new). You will then run through your 10 spins with better multipliers than before. Instead of 1x, 2x and so on, the base multiplier is 3x, then 6x, 9x and 15x on all wins when the cascades occur. This can make for a very profitable bonus game when you do get some explosion / cascade sequences going. One big explosion takes the screen away, and you are back in the regular game once the spins are over.
More Gold Diggin' is another top quality game from BetSoft. Especially suited to fans of it's predecessor Gold Diggers, this game is among my favorite recent release slots.
So get your pan out and see if you can strike gold.
