Valhalla Slot

The great halls of Valhalla has been told over the ages, known as one of two resting places for those who have died during battle. Majestic and grand, it is a place that has become an epicentre for all viking and Norse stories told through novels, film and television, and now in a slot machine from Betdigital.

Dripping in golden furnishings and adorned in viking symbolism, this 5-reels online activity gives you but a taste of what the afterlife looks like to those valiant few. What truly makes it one to remember isn’t the detailings, but the variation found in Valhalla Spins and its extraordinary expanding wild.

We can be your guide, allowing you safe passage without fear of death, but you have to fully immerse yourself in the experience to see all that this title has to offer you. So let’s begin…

The Home of Gods

You would expect, given the name of the game, that there would be ornate detailings inside a vast hall, with intricate wall art and tapestries - you’d be wrong though. Valhalla keeps it very simple, using a setting sun painting clouds orange as its backdrop, with the scroll acting as the reels opened before it. This may disappoint a lot of you, but it’s actually still very effective at maintaining that Norse atmosphere, and so it gets a thumbs up from us.

Customers will note that there is a mix of personalised and standard tiles, bringing together both classic and modern aspects of slot machines to please the whole community; it does make the game lack a certain punch, but it can be generally overlooked thanks to that expanding wild.

The wild does its normal job of substituting in the base game, but should you select the Valhalla Spins option then it will transform into an expanding wild that can award you respins. It can also grant you multipliers, but you need to set your level to 5 for that to trigger, and given the nature of such a high level, the game becomes more volatile. All special features of the wild will only ever happen in the alternate mode.

In case you’re not interested in that feature and simply want to get down to the jackpot, then the longboat blazoned with red and white sails is what you seek: five of them will gift you 2,500 credits.

The Asgardian Journey

The control panel can throw you off slightly if you’re not used to it, for your eyes are immediately drawn to the big white arrows and spin button, almost ignoring everything else. Not to mention that, if you’re completely new to slots, you may not even know what the arrows do! In this instance they act as a means of setting your stake amount, and will let you start from 0.10 up to 20.00 credits; the amount is always confirmed at the top and bottom of the screen so that you’re always aware of the amount you’re using.

Every one of the 10 paylines is fixed into place, meaning you can’t reduce them. In addition to this, there is also no autoplay or max bet option which some players may find annoying, for it means everything has to be done manually.

You can find the paytables list at the top of the screen, as well as a toggle that’ll take you to further gaming information, but other than that the control panel stops there.

A Final Resting Place

If we’re being completely honest, we doubt you’ll rest in Valhalla for too long - it’s great as a one time only game, maybe a couple more after that, but it really doesn’t instill any sense of drama or excitement in us, which just isn’t in-keeping with Norse mythology. Partnered with this, you then have the issue of a sizable yet small final jackpot that doesn’t help to keep you interested.
