Sub Sea Slot Machine

The underwater slot machine tour that is Sub Sea is a fantastic way of getting the enjoyment of a themed online casino game, without the added extras that usually come along for the ride.

Often players who dislike overwhelming novelty designs tend to opt for classic renditions to satisfy their needs, though not everyone likes the traditional aesthetics. Some still crave an element of quirkiness; with this 5-reel slot you get exactly that. There’s a well-constructed theme, but it doesn’t deviate away from the core values of the game.

The Beatles may have wanted to live in a Yellow Submarine, but with Bede Gaming they want to stick with a more conventional appearance, settling for the metallic shimmer and acidic tang that only metal can provide. Not that the brand is oblivious to the similarities, in fact they make a few references throughout the gameplay, which made us to dig out our Beatles CDs.

Inside the sub is quite tight though, as there’s only 5 paylines to operate with, which means that those looking for more substance and greater breathing room are best taking an alternate trip with another brand. Sub Sea is a deep sea dive that gives you the bare minimum and not much else, but for those with a passion for simplicity, it’s just the ticket.

Follow the Bubbles

Just as when you see bubbles rippling on the water’s surface, in this title you need to follow the bubbles to get the wins; when you create a winning line, a row of bubbles will appear, lighting up the combination as they float away. To be in with the best chances of winning, try to stick with the maximum amount of winlines, though you can use the plus and minus symbols to alter the amount.

As for placing an actual bet, that option is beside the Lines tab, giving you a starting point of a mere 0.05, which across all of the lines will come out at 0.25 credits. Not a bad little amount to get started with. It’s unlikely too many passengers will want to test the pressure when so deep under water, but if they do they can increase their stake to 10 coins per line, leaving them with a max bet of 50 credits. Should you decide this is the way to go for you, you can either click through the values or skip ahead to the finish line with the Max Bet toggle.

Not only will you always be informed of your bet total and your current win, but there is also a handy display that tells you how much of your funds is left, which ideal if you’ve got so engrossed that you’ve forgot to check in a while. A submarine captain must always stay alert and aware, but for just this once, we won’t say anything.

Sublevels

We’ve never been in a sub (we don’t know about you), and so we expected the appearance to be very dark and dreary, like something you’re likely to see on the Discovery Channel, but we were wrong. Sub Sea has given us a perky and colourful aesthetic to brighten your mood, even despite the depths you plummet as you go ever deeper. There’s no need for additional lighting as the sea illuminates with its natural beauty, with seaweed growing upwards and pink coral engulfing the seabed.

There’s a few creatures to be seen if you look out the portholes, but most of your time will be spent looking at card values; not very exciting, but Bede Gaming has done its best to jazz them up.

Sleeping with the Fishes

We’re not going mobster on you, we’re simply stating the facts: whilst you’re down here, you’ll be sleeping in rooms where fishes are on the other side. Out of all of them that you can find, it’s five of the squid that will prove the most valuable as these tiles can get you 10,000 credits! That figure remains regardless of your bet, and so Sub Sea definitely rewards you well for travelling to the bottom of the ocean.

That being said, finding five symbols in one go is quite tough, and so you’re more likely to find three 10s priced at 5 credits than you are of five of them. Nevermind, though, what’s exploration without uncertainty and risk?

Back on Dry Land

Sub Sea is a decent slot machine, but it lacks any real punch: there’s no special features, not even a wild or scatter, which makes it very basic. What this does in turn is create a game that has a very limited shelf life, something which will undoubtedly put users off. For those who want a quick game though, it’s a great destination and one we’d recommend.
